"The Olivehammer"

Did another variation of the Hammerhead design.

I used an aluminum core, and well matured olive wood. Then I added some dark walnut for the palm swell.

This came out great! So smooth in the hand. I like it a lot.

  3. Wonderful craftsmanship. The grain of the olive wood contrasting with the walnut palm swell and aluminum makes this truly unique. Well done!

  5. beautiful work, how do you mill out your aluminum core, do you send it out and have it milled, or do you use a file and manual labor at home.
    Thanks

  6. What is olive wood like to work with? Is it hard, soft, prone to splitting or splintering, things like that?

    Oh BTW Greetings from Canada!!

  8. lannon, I use a power jig saw and files. No milling.

Kevin, olive wood is pretty dense and very oily. It often has cracks, but if you use a piece that hasn't any, it is pretty solid. However I always use a core from a different material in oder to make it 100% safe.

Abu, no, I haven't shot it yet. Finished it during the week, but it is dark outside when I come back from work. Will shoot it tomorrow.
