Dankung just released the second "Jörg Sprave" model - the "Panther".

The "Panther" is aimed at the experienced shooter, with a low fork for maximum power. It accomodates both the "hammer grip" and the "finger support" shooting style, plus the unique fork design can accomodate both "looped" Chinese tubular bands and western style flat bands,
Made from 7 mm stainless steel, the frame is also an ideal "blank" for customizing. Four very spectacular modifications are shown in this video. Olive wood, caucasian walnut and baltic birch multiplex is used as material for fancy, confortable scales.

ReplyDeleteNot necessarily, but most beginners prefer higher forks as they are afraid to hit their hand. Plus, advanced shooters love modifications, the Panther is ideal for such work.

Definitely like the panther design, the multiple options available to utilize the tool are a very good asset. The handles you've modded to the tool are quite superb. The concept of someone being scared of low forks is rather amusing to me since I've been building fork-less slingshots and hitting one's hand every now and again is a given. It would be nice to have the open space that you do Mr. Sprave to target shoot. I can only seem to find that space when I go to the field on military duty lol

ReplyDeleteMy strongest bandsets will achieve around 90 Joules. Air soft guns have between 0.5 and 4 Joules. Air rifles have between 7 and 30 Joules. Firearms start from 120 Joules roughly.

Also Joerg I am with you all the way to quit the forums as I am so disappointed that people insult the work of someone who makes what he wants as his hobby! Hobbies are for enjoyment, so who cares if Joerg makes a crazy zombie decapitating machine? I personally thought it was an engineering feat to do that with so little materials. Joerg doesn't have to post these videos he could just stop altogether and go on making slingshots that we don't know about, so it is ridiculous that people try to insult him about what he has done for enjoyment and posted it for us to enjoy as well.

ReplyDeleteI love your wooden crafted slingshots. I once crafted an iPad stand out of a branch myself and really enjoyed doing so, so I think you gave me another idea for something to keep me busy during the summer. Is there a way to see those Lead Launcher templates somewhere?
I think wooden slingshots are a lot nicer and much more like 'the real deal'. I'll let you know when I'm done!

The Lead Launcher is really Gamekeeper John's design now, I gave him all the rights (for free). But I know that he will pass you the templates if you ask him nicely. I can recommend it, great hammer grip frame.

ReplyDeletethe wooden handles are realy well crafted, i am very envious of your abilitys in the department (i have found pine wood to have a very nice colour chance bettween heartwood and outer wood. i am not a major slingshot shooter but i find the wonderfuly designed ones you ake beautiful in their own way. also the extreme slingshots are realy interesting too look at (especiualy in light of the certain zombie/raptor apocolipse where defence will be vital)

I love the idea of wrapping the slingshot in paracord. Provided it can be removed without much difficulty, it seems like a slingshot/paracord combination would be quite useful in survival situations.

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your Youtube videos and your slingshot designs. It is sad that many people on the forums can't take your creations in stride, but true innovation comes from the extreme. It is a sad truth that the best innovators in history have all been ridiculed. Slingshot design has basically remained the same since it was invented. Other than a few ergonomic enhancements, they haven't really changed. Your slingshots are a much needed technological leap forward. Those who insult you need to become a tad more open minded. On another note, while your slingshots do seem to be much stronger than traditional slingshots (weaponized might be an appropriate term), people who criticize you for making weapons should realize that the slingshot was invented with the purpose of being a weapon. Weapons are perfectly able to be used as entertainment (responsibly of course). Bows and guns are both weapons that are used for purposes other than killing, and nobody criticizes someone for making one of them all the more advanced. I truly believe in your designs. Keep up the good work.

ReplyDeleteYour videos are great, but I would like to do some suggestions.
ReplyDeleteYou should had english subtitles. A lot of people can read english fairly well, however have problems understanding spoken english. Automatic captions are helpful but error prone or unavailable. Adding subtitles would help people to learn english.
Also, you could film a series of videos teaching people how to properly shoot a slingshot, how to select the right bands for their strenght besides other basic slingshot things. In addition, you could point people to other helpful resources for the hobby like books, websites, forum posts, etc.
Finally, two short things. People will appreciate more details of how your slingshots have been made. Part of your blog is in german, making it difficult to navigate.

The pistol or hammer grip simply allows you to draw out a stronger band. It's all about power.
ReplyDeleteA low forked hammer grip frame is not only most compact, but also most powerful.
The noble-wood handle looks the best to me. Very nice.

ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the forums I think your ideas are great keep going. You could try making a mod on the panther by making a antler handle and making it like the self defence slingshot by putting a folding knife in the handle.

ReplyDeleteJorge, this is a beautiful design, I just love it, but my wife and I think it's name and it's appearance don't match. I thought maybe it was just me so showed the pics to my wife and asked her what she saw in the design, we both saw a pair of stylized wolves. And no, I hadn't told her what I saw until after she said "wolves, or maybe jackals" and that was her first response.
