  1. I LOVE this thing. It's a really cool weapon! Also lovely to see how your baby cats have grown and how they play in the bush :P

  2. Just wondering: would be better if the back fork (band attachment) is wider than front fork (ball bearings?? I assume that cocking it woul be liitle easier, and band stretching smoother. What do you think?
    Cheerz!!!

  3. It would be cool if you could use different kinds of munition in the next videos.
BTW The cats look so cute^^

  4. I really like the effectiveness of you roller draw extenders, just curious as to why you didn't you use them on the cannon?

  5. I can't wait for the tutorial! this thing is awesome!

  6. getting better every week, but how far will you? continues, do not stop, you're the best

  7. Bear, the rollers simply allow a shorter "barrel". The cannon does not need to be "compact" - you want more draw length, you simply extend the barrel. Much easier to do.

On a portable bullpup crossbow, compact size is much more important.

  8. AWESOME!Looks like a SWAT crossbow, wish I had one!Great work Joerg, you've really outdone yourself!

  9. I agree that it's one of your best designs ever. It's so handy, powerful and cool looking. I'd be very interested to learn the pros and cons of the push-up type of release mechanism you chose for this weapon, compared to the roller nut or jaws types you have used in some of your slingbows.

  10. its a pretty sexy piece of wood thats for sure. illegal in canada tho i thinks

  11. Pikeman, the push up method is much easier to make, but it is not quite as accurate as the roller nut method. The roller nut can also handle heavier bands, but that is not relevant here. 80 lbs will be sufficient for the biggest ammo the weapon can handle (20 mm).

Since this will be a how-to (tutorial) project, I chose the method so the less experienced guys out there can follow it, too.

  12. ryansluman, wikipedia says you got to have at least 500 mm in length. That is fine, this weapon is about 700 mm including the stirrup.

  13. It looks great already, but it will be a true beauty after a nice paint job. Plus the 80lbs draw is pretty mean lots of power. Any way to put a scope on this? say like a side mount that comes to the top, kind of like the Mosin-Nagant PU scope.

  14. i just found you on through youtube. i love your creativity. keep them coming

  15. Very cool! What diameter bolts are those in the front? I'd like to get everything I need to build one next week.

  16. It is awesome! I cannot wait to built it.

  17. I like it) very good thing, simply and strong

  18. Looks bad-add, i cant wait to see it finished!

  19. I used 25 mm (1") rods. But anything between 20 and 30 mm will work just fine.

Adding a scope will be tricky, haven't settled on any specific method.

  20. i couldnt wait to see it finished
and i think ill make one but im going to use weaker band because i dont want to go to prison for killing someone (yet):))

  21. cool design, i'm really thinking about building this one :)

  22. Hope your cold is better. It didn't look to have slowed you down much as you did a good job on this model. One wonders if a longer rubber with the anchor points further back would add to the speed or power of this slingshots as opposed to more bands of short rubber. Also, would non-tapered bands of rubber give more speed/power or are we counting on a faster rebound on the tapered ends?

  23. Very nice design, perhaps some kind of loops to keep the bands from jumping the rollers. I'll bet it could launch arrows also.

  24. Very cool slingshot. Looks like you can source all the parts at Home Depot or someplace like that.

  25. Just watched the video. That thing looks amazing! Much better than the arm stabilized one I've used before for fun! You could go hunting with this one!

  26. Nice to see videos of someone that has a passion for something. I wish I had the skills to work with wood in the way that you do. Thanks for making these videos!

  27. Would you do anything different on it?

    ReplyDelete
  28. The bullpup slingshot is a great design. Can't wait for it to be finished. Thanks for the preview.

  29. Just amazing work. Im looking forward to see you shooting with it with a much heavier band. But even with the band used in the video it was extremely strong "toy" :-)

  30. Very impressive Jorg! I think elastic guns are your next thing.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I wonder how strong this would be if you made it with a 3d printer...

  32. I just came across this posting at the ZS forums. I really want to make this now. I have been a fan of the sling shot for years and have never used a decent one (above $20) but I have shot and eaten cottontail rabbits taken by my sling shot.

    ReplyDelete
  33. for a decent slingshot you just need decent band and time brother.

    ReplyDelete
  34. very cool, i'm looking forward to seeing them on it when it's ready.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Do you shoot anything with these guns? Whether hunting, targets, competitions or is it just for fun?

    ReplyDelete
  36. I definitely want one of these!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Glad to see it works! Is there anything you can do to keep the band on the rollers after firing? And whats your opinion on the draw length, long enough?

  38. Hi, Jörg!

I accidentially came across your yt channel on Sunday and almost immediately caught sling fire of the highest degree imaginable. After years of archery I had to quit for monetary and mobility reasons and I'm pretty sure I found an adequate as well as inexpensive alternative now.
I'm eagerly looking forward to watching a video of you shooting a slingshot using Thera-Band FlexBar soon :))

    Best regards from Dortmund West

  39. This is amazing! I'm completely blown away by the level of ingenuity and craftsmanship as I poke around on your channel. :)

  40. You are without a doubt one of the most technically gifted people I have ever seen. Calling dibs for your team when the Zombie Apocalypse comes.

  41. you are the coolest! cant wait to get the plans for this one. p.s. please destroy more iphones.

    ReplyDelete
  42. That's one for the slingshot room! That is if there is room after the cannon!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Any tips for winning a slingshot?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yellow :)
As for the scope mount – look into SVD Dragunov/AK74’s scope: it is mounted on the side of the rifle with the mount going up and to the right side to match the rifles symmetry axis:

If you get a decent mount it rock solid.
In this case the “bend” of the mount should probably be a lot significant to not to get in collision with the band/pouch.
Assault crossbow looks very tasty :) Can’t wait to see the whole tutorial.
    Cheers

  45. Can't wait for it I'd like to see the work refined further but not as a tutorial just for our viewing pleasure.

  46. Cool this will be my next project to make, gonna use some hardwood and maybe black bands so it will look really nice to. Many Many thanks Joerg !! Dont think ill need the howto but offcourse still looking forward to the finished version of this one.
Cant wait to have few days free from work so i can make it too :) :)

    All the best.

  49. Another outstanding "toy!" Lord, love to owen one of your creations for my primitive weapons collection! You just reenforce what I believe, you don't need "gun powder" to be an effective hunter or survivalist.

  50. Cant wait for the how to i think i have everything needed, I want to add a couple more bands and might make it slightly bigger.
