The Dankung "Panther" - plus 52 slingshot drawings, one every week!

Dankung just released the second "Jörg Sprave" model - the "Panther".

Here is a video about it:

Watch it on youtube

The "Panther" is aimed at the experienced shooter, with a low fork for maximum power. It accomodates both the "hammer grip" and the "finger support" shooting style, plus the unique fork design can accomodate both "looped" Chinese tubular bands and western style flat bands,

Made from 7 mm stainless steel, the frame is also an ideal "blank" for customizing. Four very spectacular modifications are shown in this video. Olive wood, caucasian walnut and baltic birch multiplex is used as material for fancy, confortable scales.

You can win 52 slingshots! All you have to do is to leave a comment on a recent blog entry here, and you automatically participate in a weekly drawing. You can win a fully wrapped and banded "Cougar" or "Panther" slingshot, including free global shipping.

The weekly winner will be named here as well.

  5. Hey, thanks guys, feels very good to see some comments here.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I was wondering what you meant by the slingshot is aimed at the "experienced shooter", does this mean I should get some experience shooting other slingshots before I shoot something like this?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Not necessarily, but most beginners prefer higher forks as they are afraid to hit their hand. Plus, advanced shooters love modifications, the Panther is ideal for such work.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I really love how very functional can a minimalistic design be. Not to mention how customusable! Looking foward to see what your next project will be!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Sad that you are leaving, but I hope I can get my hands on one of those 52 slingshots ;)

    ReplyDelete
  10. I totally like new Panther design! I'm already imagining it with fishing reel and detechable arrow rest! That would be great addon to this design, and perhaps good job to Dankung :) .
I have some peace of pear wood (very, very hard) to pimp this beauty ;).
    Keep on inovating slingshots!
    Greetz from Serbia!

  11. How can anyone hate on you! It's all envy.

    ReplyDelete
  12. A nice design. I looks like it can make some damage.
The fork having such a low profile means it has a learning curve to shoot, right?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Definitely like the panther design, the multiple options available to utilize the tool are a very good asset. The handles you've modded to the tool are quite superb. The concept of someone being scared of low forks is rather amusing to me since I've been building fork-less slingshots and hitting one's hand every now and again is a given. It would be nice to have the open space that you do Mr. Sprave to target shoot. I can only seem to find that space when I go to the field on military duty lol

  14. I really like your YouTube videos, keep up the good work and the crazy ideas!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Sad that you leave the slingshotforum. But i like what you do so i will be here often. I also like you videos and your style of videobloggin. Go on and thanks for showing us how to have fun on slingshots!

  16. Wow..Das Panther-Modell komplett in Holz sieht richtig super aus!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Very nice work there! Just wish more people knew about you, because if they did - you'd be more like FPSRussia in terms of popularity.

Also, how many languages do you speak?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I speak 100% German, 80% English, and maybe 15% French. So that makes 1,95 languages in total.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Love your vids, and I'm sort of glad you have a blog now. I never did get around to checking out the slingshot forums.

  20. Hello Joerg, i am very sad to see that u left the slingshot forums. Therefore, i am happy if u are,, and i hope u keep up the good work, i would like to thank u for bringing me to the slingshot world, and i would like to thank u for giving us, the fans, a chance to win one of those amazing new slingshots!.
Good luck with watever ur going to do, and i will keep being a fan and i will keep following ur youtube, and now ur blog too :).

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well Jörg if I had to choose 2 people to help me survive a zombie apocalypse it would be you, and Rambo.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Could you describe the power of one slingshot you´ve shown? Maybe in comparison to a softair gun ( Joule etc.)

    ReplyDelete
  23. great work, i love watching your videos.... keep it up:)

    ReplyDelete
  24. My strongest bandsets will achieve around 90 Joules. Air soft guns have between 0.5 and 4 Joules. Air rifles have between 7 and 30 Joules. Firearms start from 120 Joules roughly.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Very interesting design. It looks rather sci-fi, like something from Star Trek maybe.

    ReplyDelete
  26. You're awesome! I think you rock because of you imagination when it comes to making new models of slingshots... Thank you so much for all of the cool designs on youtube!
Good luck with whatever you're going to do next!

  28. Great videos joerg. love your work mate keep it up. you make great vids and great slingshots.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hey Joerg.. I am DukaThe from forum.. I realy like your slingshots.. I watched all of your videos several times. These modifications on Panther model are veeeery nice looking and Im shure they are nice shooters.. Id realy love to have one in my hands :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. I've been wondering this for a while; when you moved home, how did the new owners of your previous house react to the tree with hundreds of holes in it from your ammo.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Like your other commercial designs the "panther" looks great and seems to be e variable shooter!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I like your panther, the ability to grip it 2 different ways is nice. I really enjoy your videos as well, gotten into them in the past couple weeks and haven't stopped yet. You've really inspired me to go out and shoot my Slingshot a lot more often

    ReplyDelete
  33. The new owners didn't say a word about it. They also swallowed the hole in the window.

    ReplyDelete
  34. You are awesome. Like your panther.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love the slingshots the olive wood one is very stylish but very deadly. Also Joerg I am with you all the way to quit the forums as I am so disappointed that people insult the work of someone who makes what he wants as his hobby! Hobbies are for enjoyment, so who cares if Joerg makes a crazy zombie decapitating machine? I personally thought it was an engineering feat to do that with so little materials. Joerg doesn't have to post these videos he could just stop altogether and go on making slingshots that we don't know about, so it is ridiculous that people try to insult him about what he has done for enjoyment and posted it for us to enjoy as well.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Guide notches were a smart idea! The way the bands slip in rings of my dankung slingshot really bothers me.

    ReplyDelete
  37. It's a pity that you have gotten so much negative response from the forums. Sure, some things you make might be a little extreme, but it's all good fun, really. I mean, who doesn't want to see a burly German dude shooting machetes with his home-made slingshot rifle? I'll be looking forward to every video you'll be posting during this summer and I will also keep an eye on your blog. Thanks and bye-bye.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hi i love watching your videos and your work dunno why but im just a teen so that could explain it...I love your cahnnel and sorry about the annoying assholes...

    ReplyDelete
  39. I diddn't even know you had a blog... Damn I've been missing out on something!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hi neighbor! (I'm Belgian)

I love your wooden crafted slingshots. I once crafted an iPad stand out of a branch myself and really enjoyed doing so, so I think you gave me another idea for something to keep me busy during the summer. Is there a way to see those Lead Launcher templates somewhere?

I think wooden slingshots are a lot nicer and much more like 'the real deal'. I'll let you know when I'm done!

    ReplyDelete
  41. brilliant neew design joerg sad you are leavinng the forums :( iii hope u will be happy though and do what is best for you :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Love watching your videos as well. Just finished watching all of them today!! Shame to hear you left all the forums, but as they say, "onward and upward". There's nothing to hold you back now from being successful, keep up the awesome creations, both extreme and beautiful!

    Cheers from Canada!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Keep up the good work :) Really looking forward to your appearance on Galileo (yes, I'm from Germany :D)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Awsome man, these slingshots are great :D

    ReplyDelete
  45. Those slingshots are awesome. Who cares about those idiots complaining on formus, keep up the good work.
    Pozdrowienia z Polski :]

    ReplyDelete
  46. The Lead Launcher is really Gamekeeper John's design now, I gave him all the rights (for free). But I know that he will pass you the templates if you ask him nicely. I can recommend it, great hammer grip frame.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Those Slingshots look cool.
    One of your best ones.
Do you want to stop making new Slingshots
or showing them in the net.
    Hope I understood that wrong

    ReplyDelete
  48. Lloyd, not to worry, I won't stop making and presenting slingshots. I just won't address the slingshot forums anymore, lots of work and in the end people insult me.

    ReplyDelete
  49. wow, the panther looks like a bread and butter slingshot. it has everything you need and it has lot's of enhancing options. just like the VW Käfer :-D

    ReplyDelete
  50. Beautiful slingshots.
I have almost finished the bonecrushing sling x-bow. I hope you to sometimes show us how to make that spectacular stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I have to say that your slingshots have inspired me so much and your craftmans ship is amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  57. By the way, the blog is not very new. I just never promoted it very much until now.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I really like the fully covered wooden one, looks nice and like it took the most skill. Plus great design on the core.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Your inventions are so cool!!! You're a great designer. The new panther is amazing!!! I definitely want to buy one, as soon as I have the money. I've seen all of your videos, and they're awesome. Keep making awesome weapons!!!

Needless to say this is my name in the hat for a slingshot :D

    ReplyDelete
  67. Hell man! great design, great Slingshot, would love to have one of these. How do you attach your Wooden handles?

    ReplyDelete
  68. There are several ways to attach the wooden handles, all very easy. I have almost finished the "Panther" handbook with detailled explanations.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Im impressed how you never run out of ideas, these slingshots look fantastic! keep up the great work, Jorg

    ReplyDelete
  70. Who ever said your creations are too extreme is totally misunderstanding of you. Just the amount of innovation you put into your slingshots really shows the drive you have in the hobby you enjoy. Glad to see you being the bigger man and moving away from the site that has been keeping you down! Here's to hoping I win in this weeks drawing, would love to shoot one of these bad boys!!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I love watching your videos because I didn't think slingshots could be taken to that extreme ahah. Those people at the slingshotforum are just afraid because you're heading into new slingshot territory xD. Keep it up!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Brilliant! Healthy mix of science and art make for enjoyable reading and viewing. I'll spread the word on the drawings and keep up the good work.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Holy smokes a lot of people are commenting! Haha! Congratulations on the new design of the Panther, she really is a beauty. However, you're really popular over here in Canada for your machete slingshot! Canada loves the Slingshot Channel!

    ReplyDelete
  74. I like the customisability of the panther and what you make with it. Keep going.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Hey Jorg, your ingenuity and innovation never fails to amaze me. Its a pity that some people can't appreciate that. You have my full support and admiration sir! Keep up the outstanding work!!

  76. Mal wieder eine tolle Aktion.
    Schöne Form, weiter so.
Würde mich freuen, eine mein Eigen nennen zu dürfen ;)

    ReplyDelete
  77. It's clear that some people who don't speak any german have been rating your blog, 5 people said this post was "lustig"

    ReplyDelete
  78. My comment is merely to say you have an excellent youtube channel (and of course to stand a chance to win one of the cool slingshots :)

    ReplyDelete
  79. Strangely enough, I started reading the slingshot forum because of your videos. I also made my first slingshot in 25 years because of your videos as well (the phoenix. I love your videos, I can't help but smile when I watch them. Thank you Mr. Sprave!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Here in the states, I have only seen 2 different slingshot designs. The classic and the wrist rocket, both made by Daisy.

After stumbling across this blog I have since looked at the slingshot forum (sad to see you going right after I joined) and the Zombie hunters site. there is alot of interesting information to be found at both.

I must say you have taken slingshot design to a whole new level, and look forward to trying to win one of your's for the next year.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Wow I would love to win a free slingshot!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Are you a professional engineer? You seem to be able to do just about anything with wood and metal. Great videos by the way, I sat and watched every one of them after your machete slingshot was featured on gizmodo.com.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I think its a good thing that you left the slingshot forums. It's such a waste of time when small minded people talk down to creativity. I find your work inspiring as a maker and craftsman, and I don't even make slingshots. Please keep up the great work

  96. i love the olive wood fully "clothed" one. looks very high quality and looks comfortable, good combination of form vs function!!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Your slingshots are impressive! I like the powerful version :o)

    ReplyDelete
  98. the wooden handles are realy well crafted, i am very envious of your abilitys in the department (i have found pine wood to have a very nice colour chance bettween heartwood and outer wood. i am not a major slingshot shooter but i find the wonderfuly designed ones you ake beautiful in their own way. also the extreme slingshots are realy interesting too look at (especiualy in light of the certain zombie/raptor apocolipse where defence will be vital)

i am also very sorry to hear the 'purists' sadly existant in every spot have tried to drive you out for being enthusiastic and inventive

    ReplyDelete
  99. Hey Joerg, Sorry to hear about the forum trolls. Really, who has time for that? They probably think that they "won" because you left. I think that ignorance is some peoples' comfort zone. You are one of they most knowledgeable and humble folks on YT. Keep Shooting. ( Hope I do it right this time, Who knew that Abmelden meant "Sign out"? lol)

    ReplyDelete
  100. I love your slingshots!
I was always shooting with it when i was a litle kid, best times of my life :D

Keep up with videos man, they always make may day better :)

    Cheers from Croatia!

    ReplyDelete
  101. I love the idea of wrapping the slingshot in paracord. Provided it can be removed without much difficulty, it seems like a slingshot/paracord combination would be quite useful in survival situations.

    ReplyDelete
  102. oh man those look awesome!! the wood is beautiful

    ReplyDelete
  103. Nice design! The ones with wooden handles look awesome.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  110. In with the new, out with the old; A new blog for a new era of sling shot enthusiasts!

    ReplyDelete
  111. I absolutely love your Youtube videos and your slingshot designs. It is sad that many people on the forums can't take your creations in stride, but true innovation comes from the extreme. It is a sad truth that the best innovators in history have all been ridiculed. Slingshot design has basically remained the same since it was invented. Other than a few ergonomic enhancements, they haven't really changed. Your slingshots are a much needed technological leap forward. Those who insult you need to become a tad more open minded. On another note, while your slingshots do seem to be much stronger than traditional slingshots (weaponized might be an appropriate term), people who criticize you for making weapons should realize that the slingshot was invented with the purpose of being a weapon. Weapons are perfectly able to be used as entertainment (responsibly of course). Bows and guns are both weapons that are used for purposes other than killing, and nobody criticizes someone for making one of them all the more advanced. I truly believe in your designs. Keep up the good work.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Hey really good slingshots. I really love your vids on youtube, pls keep on doing such beautiful slingshots

    ReplyDelete
  115. Joerg your second slingshot here is my favourite I've ever seen, honestly!
I love the simplistic design, and the paracord weaving between the frame is just perfect! I also really love the small bands, and I understand that they won't shoot projectiles far, or too fast, but it seems perfect!!

    Keep up the amazing work!

    ReplyDelete
  116. Watching you on youTube for the past 6 months has really gotten me into wanting to make my own slingshot. I'll let you know as soon as I make my own!

    ReplyDelete
  117. the panther would look great in my hand

    ReplyDelete
  119. You're my favourite channel on YouTube, keep up the good work mate!

    ReplyDelete
  120. i like the stainless sligshots, too, but my all favourite are the handmade, polished wooden ones. they're more aesthetic.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Good looking slingshot design, a great all round shooter, and an excellent follow up to the 'Cougar'

    ReplyDelete
  122. Good looking and compact, I like it!
That's a no nonsense slingshot if ever I've seen one

    ReplyDelete
  123. I'm glad that you've decided to focus on this blog.
I say forget about any rude people from those forums!

    ReplyDelete
  124. are you now doing now also more youtube videos because you left that forum?

    ReplyDelete
  125. The wood handle mods are amazing what do you use to glue the wood to the metal? I imagine that the handles are under alot of stress when your using the slingshot so whatever your using gives you an amazing bond.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Hey Joerg.. As I said before, I realy love your work and Id like to see more tutorials and how-to's from you, couse older tutorials you made have been very helpful to me :) And Joerg,Im thinking right now: I just must have one of your slingshots. So, are you interested in a trade maybe? I know that I am not as nearly good in slingshot making as you, but, as I said, I must have one of your slingshots. I ADMIRE YOU!!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  127. Good job, you are a great slingshot desiner and a inspiration to all brazilian slingshot lovers.

  128. I just stumbled over your channel, your videos are great entertainment! Keep it up =D

    ReplyDelete
  129. Excellent slingshot! I wonder if you could loop the Thera-band silver tubes through those holes. That would be very powerful. The olive wood full scales look very comfortable. Great job.

    ReplyDelete

  133. Yesssss, I would kill to have a slingshot designed by you. Would be so awesome. Especially one of those beasts.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Thank you sir for your wonderful exploration of designs and educating your audience.

I was wondering if you were at any point going to explore using delrin as a frame material. It is a very lightweight, very strong material. I believe it would be an interesting experiment.

    Yours truly,
    Zombie Bike Squad.

  135. Love what you do. I'm glad a friend showed me your machette slingshot video. I've been hhooked since then. You make phenomenal creation that takes alot of talent.
oh and that one you made from a tree in your yard looks awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  136. Really beautiful slingshots! Panther is just awesome :)

    ReplyDelete
  137. Your videos are great, but I would like to do some suggestions.

You should had english subtitles. A lot of people can read english fairly well, however have problems understanding spoken english. Automatic captions are helpful but error prone or unavailable. Adding subtitles would help people to learn english.

Also, you could film a series of videos teaching people how to properly shoot a slingshot, how to select the right bands for their strenght besides other basic slingshot things. In addition, you could point people to other helpful resources for the hobby like books, websites, forum posts, etc.

Finally, two short things. People will appreciate more details of how your slingshots have been made. Part of your blog is in german, making it difficult to navigate.

    ReplyDelete
  138. if I read all the comments here, many people say something like: "you should..", "you could..","I would like...", "I want..."
I want nothing. I enjoy reading and watching the products of your creative mind. As long as you do what you do, I will be a silent fan. Greetz from QLD, Australia.

    ReplyDelete
  139. I have tried for years to make a slingshot like you but it always doesn't turn out quite how I wanted it to be. I'm hoping this will give me the chance to actually own a slingshot designed by you.

    ReplyDelete
  140. joerg - good move to consolidate your work to one blog. it was getting difficult to keep up with so many forums and video sites....also probably time consuming for you....also you were providing content for free to the other sites. you need to make the money!

the DIY articles are the best as so many of us like to copy/modify your designs and that is the great thing about slingshots....good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Jorg, Great blog site! Sorry to hear the forums became a problem, but a single place will probably be easier for you to keep up with anyway.

I always enjoy seeing what you have come up with and look forward to more of your creativity and craftsmanship.

I really like the looks of that Panther with the wood going all the way up the forks. Very nice!

    Take care and good luck.

  143. cant beleive your leaving jorge .. but what a way to go giving away 52 slingshots i hope to win one of these as i have never owned a dankung slingshot and would love to own one but never had spare money to purchase one as they are at the top of the market and i simply cant afford it at the moment ... i have been watching your videos for 2 years now and i cant tell you how much you have taught me and its going to be sad when you are not posing as many slinghot videos as you have done over the past 2 years i have been watching , farewell jorge maybe one day you will return to the forums ( hopefully ) you will always be a legend in my eyes my friend and will proberley never see anyone just quite as talented as you. :( cant wait to see who wins a sling and hopefully i win.. so many contests entered but never one a single one maybe this is the time .........

    ReplyDelete
  144. I really like the style of this slingshot, and the double positions for the rubber band, it looks like it were 2 slingshots in one, I'd love to have one of those, maybe later, but for now I'll stick with my wrist braced one (it's not illegal here)

  153. The most impressive "panther"for me is the one with the olive-wood.
    Keep it up

  154. Why do you prefer pistol grip?

    ReplyDelete
  155. I realy like your video, you're very cool to give your time to the community.

    Thanks and bye bye

    ReplyDelete
  156. The pistol or hammer grip simply allows you to draw out a stronger band. It's all about power.

A low forked hammer grip frame is not only most compact, but also most powerful.

  157. The noble-wood handle looks the best to me. Very nice.

  172. Hi jeorg
Sorry to hear about the forums I think your ideas are great keep going. You could try making a mod on the panther by making a antler handle and making it like the self defence slingshot by putting a folding knife in the handle.

  191. Jorge, this is a beautiful design, I just love it, but my wife and I think it's name and it's appearance don't match. I thought maybe it was just me so showed the pics to my wife and asked her what she saw in the design, we both saw a pair of stylized wolves. And no, I hadn't told her what I saw until after she said "wolves, or maybe jackals" and that was her first response.
