Bye bye, slingshot forums

That's right, it is time for me to focus.

I have more than 160 youtube comment pages and this blog to update. Plus all the PM's from my 21k + yt subscribers...

The slingshot forum was one of my favourite places for a long time, and I was a moderator there. But the endless and often personal discussions with the "paper punchers" simply cost too much time. I got to focus on those that appreciate my work, really. Plus, my critics are probably right, my inventions often aren't slingshots anymore - they are serious weapons, just powered by rubber.

You will still find me on weapon forums where there is no such "elite" nonsense, like my favorite Zombie Squad forum.

Take a peak

I will also set up a nice facebook page, but this will take some time.

That does not mean that the slingshot forums are bad places. You can actually learn a lot of basics there, just not from me anymore. But there are lots of other great guys.

Last not least, I want to encourage people using this blog to discuss my slingshots. I will do a nice promotion, check out the upcoming videos for details! As always, you can win free slingshots.

  9. I love all your slingshot inventions, as silly as some of them are. It doesn't matter if they're practical, they're a lot of fun to watch in action!

  10. Too bad you get insulted on the slingshot forums. But don't worry nobody cares about the insults, the main reason why i and possibly most people go on Youtube to watch your videos is because they are so entertaining. Keep the videos up the way you want it and don't worry about the haters, they are just jealous. Thanks for the vids and the posts.

  12. Ich hoffe ich darf in deutsch schreiben.
Ich finde es "gut" das du nicht mehr in dem Forum bist. Also das was du damit beabsichtigst ist sehr gut! Aber leute: be careful!

  18. you make a superb job, it's only that when you make something different to the topic people use to discuss they get angry, it happened to me a lot of times, but that's nonsense, I find your work quite appealing, like the slingshot machine gun, that one was incredible, doesn't matter what kind of weapon you make, it'll be a pleasure to watch it

  20. Joerg,
I am sorry that you are leaving a forum due to insulting comments from some of its members. I wish you well in your new endeavors and hope you soon forget the unappreciative people. I see that you said you will still post on weapons forums, and I hope this includes The High Road, which is where I first found your posts and links to your wonderful YouTube videos. I hope that you will also continue to create wonderful slingshot contraptions, as well as more traditional slingshots, and share these on YouTube. Keep up the amazing work, and I wish you the best of luck!

  27. I did subscribe your youtube channel a long time ago. I learned a lot from you. I live in Brazil and would like to ask you a question: If you had to go alone in the wild with only one slingshot, which one would you choose? The V? Thanks a lot.

  28. Really awesome. You have my full support Joerg! Been watching your slingshot videos and they are definitely awesome. It would love to own a slingshot designed by you, because they are all I have ever known.

  32. I'm looking all of your videos...they are absolutly great.
I learned alot of the slingshot forums, it is really a pity that they are losing such a pro slingshoter.
But it is always good to lift up the horizont and step up to the next level.

  33. Jorg, for the past few months, I have been obsessed with your videos and blog posts. I love watching a new video on YouTube or reading one of your blog posts. You are much too great of a person to worry about petty insults. Keep doing your thing and always remember how many people like me that you have captivated and brought into the slingshot world!

  34. The panther slingshot is a great new design. Keep up the great work and we all are happy for more videos anyways!

  38. I've never been into slingshots, but your creations have sparked a slight interest in me. Keep up the good work, Jörg.

  39. I didn't get a chance to get involved in the slingshot forums, but I can already tell they've lost a strong voice. You've always had creativity, and often creativity and ambition are frown upon by those without it. I look forward to seeing more of your ideas in the future, and seeing what new comes from your "laboratory".

    ReplyDelete
  40. Jorg, It is a shame the slingshot forums insult your talent. I have seen the photos of your 'in process' x-bow pistol and look forward to see its power. I have a couple of projects in mind, mounting a sight to a slingshot, using needle bearings in the handle, also attaching the rubber to a free floating bar that the sight is attached to, allowing it to always be in line with the rubber. Another idea is to use compound bow-like pulleys to increase the ball exit velocity. Using the pulleys in similar way to your pulley-extending slinshots will enable the rubber to be mounted inline and under the firing track. Therefore the weapon would be thin like a rifle not wide like a crossbow.

You are an inspiration, leave the small minded behind while they argue the world is flat and continue to prove it is round.

  41. I think you do the right thing leaving the forum. Those haters are not worth a second of your time and you can put your energy into your admirable work instead of these eggheads! Aside from that you really do not depend on them anyway =)

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm glad that you decided to write a book about the slings and i can barely wait to read it.
I wish you good luck and good health.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Joerg- you have the best videos and the best designs, good thing I can read you on ZombieSquad and here! keep up the great work and videos

    ReplyDelete
  44. Joerg, it's their loss. I got into slingshots because of you, not them. I appreciate your videos and projects very much! Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I loved reading your posts on the slingshotforum! I have always appreciated creative thinking. But I also totally understand that you left the place..

For me personally, I like your videos the most when you shoot your new hi-tec creations outdoor against things or when you measure speed. I'm really fond of the new approaches you have made regarding slingshot constructions.
Of course your how-to vids are essential too. I just like your videos more when projectiles are used instead of "static destruction" like guillotines etc. I like things flying around wide distance with lots of energy!
But of course, you can please everyone, so just do your thing!

I'm glad that you don't stop posting videos and updates altogether.

    Regards from Switzerland,
    Skip.

  46. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge. I have used your ideas in helping a boy scout troop build their own slingshots - one of their favorite activities and they take them every time we leave the city!

  47. i hope you feel better don't listen to all the haters out there they are just jealous that you make good slingshots and they don't. i don't want you to stop making videos. your videos have inspired me to make my own slingshot but the bands keep braking :( but yea keep it up jorg the vids are good

  48. You know!! till I found your youtube channel I thought slingshots where quite boring. Since then I have watched every single slingshot video you have made...very inspiring..In fact I have started designing my own which I hope to share with you. keep it up and good work. Justin South Africa

  49. Everyone is different. It is sad that some will not appreciate your brilliance because you are different than they are. One of your differences is your tolerance of other peoples shallow mindedness. After awhile your tolerance can drag you down trying to deal with them.
Separating yourself from shallow minds will allow you to continue to grow and free your mind to do what you do best.

  50. frist off your the coolest youtube channel i subscribe to second off if they are insaluting you its because they wish they had thought of the cool things you have done

  52. From a "forum guy" sad to hear you have left the forum Joerg, but i understand the reasoning. I've always enjoyed your work. you are very innovative and talented. The natural phoenix that you made for me from the fork i sent you is one of my prized slingshots.

I would like to comment on the other comments though. Overall, the forum that Joerg left is full of wonderful people, this is a prime example of a few rotten apples spoiling the whole bushel. Saying that the forum as a whole is a bunch of "haters" and "elitests" is narrow minded in its own right.

    Take care Joerg!
