Tried to make a really delicate frame from the Zebrawood. Used very thin Kydex as a core. But I thinned out the fork too much, it broke during the stress test in the vise.
In order to salvage the handle, I sawed the fork off and attached an aluminum one instead.
I am fairly happy with the result!
Nice, I love that zebrawood, it leaves such a nice finish. That is one fine slingshot!
ReplyDeleteI really like the wood!
ReplyDeleteLooks nice, no great.
ReplyDeleteJust wondering: it looks as if you folded the tips of the aluminium fork, did you heat them before folding or just cold bending? Love the combo of the wood and the metal.
All the best.
I like how the finish shows the grain of the wood. Nice job.
ReplyDeletei dislike hat the edgs are folded...looks cheap imo...and thats a pitty for that beautiful zebrawood
ReplyDeleteI folded the edges cold... had to do it as the aluminum was too thin. You don't see the edges when you put bands on.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget that this was a salvagin job.
Yes, i know.
ReplyDeleteI think the core was already completly hardened with epoxy?
would have looked good to seperate the handle parts again and use an aluminium core that was in one piece with the fork, like ine one of the last slingshots you made.
hmmm i´d really like to try one of those woods too.
are they completly dry and ready to use when the arrive? and how dense is zebra if you compare it with beech or oak for example?
Cool really good job
ReplyDeletekiller slingshots , keep up the great work ..
ReplyDeleteYou make very elegant slingshots. It makes me want to make some.
ReplyDeleteim justa a 12-yarold and i can make it ...but on the rightside i can watch you

DeleteWow it is SO beautiful!!!!!

ReplyDeleteDo you just get your woods from ebay ?
