New noble wood arrived!


New wood arrived! I ordered a piece of Makamong Burlwood (in the middle) and a piece of the very rare "white ebony" (the piece on the right side). The guys at www.edelholzverkauf.de gave me a piece of nutwood (very nice grain) for free, because it has a few flaws.

All these pieces will be nice slingshot handles soon! I will have fun just thinking about what I will do with them.

    i have some kind of wooden handle from a beer tap. would make a huge handle for a slingshot. very heavy too from the metal core used to screw into the beer tap, i presume..

    Looks good. The white ebony will make a very smooth handle. Maybe you can somehow combine the wood and ebony into one handle, like a spiral design or overlapping layers.

    Wahrscheinlich werde ich mir in näherer Zukunft auch etwas von diesem oder einem ähnlichen Holz bestellen. Sehr schönes Muster. Freu mich auf dein Ergebnis!

    Ne richtig gute Wahl. Ich hab mir auch schon überlegt mir irgendwann in zukunft mal nen bissel von da zu bestellen. Zur zeit bin ich recht abgebrannt aber wer weiß wie es bald aussieht. Das weiße ebenholz hatte ich auch schon im kopf. Nu isses ja weg... doll^^ naja das bekomme ich schon noch. Viel spaß beim bearbeiten von dem holz und hoffentlich machste was richtig schönes aus dem schönen zeug.

    Maybe try making a deluxe or royale slingskot with oak wood and all that fancy stuff :P

    And now I'm wondering if I ever saw a steampunk slingshot on your channel or on someone esle's channel....

    @Alkyrius: The boards are too thin for an entire slingshot, but in general, the wood is pretty hard. Anyway, I would always laminate several layers for safety.

    That white ebony is absolutely gorgeous! I think it will make a beautiful handle. It would be interesting to see a handle, or maybe even a whole slingshot, made out of some purple heartwood, or some other rare exotic wood. They just give things that classier and more expensive feel and look.

    Oh, that white ebony has my heat just a'thumping! I would cut it into thin strips and laminate it with contrasting woods and then cut on a bias for a contrasting interesting look. Then send me the scraps! :) Man, that is great stuff! It would make for some very interesting inlays also.

    Some very nice specimens. The Makamong Burlwood is an especially beautiful wood with great grain patterns. Thanks for sharing the pic.
