New wood arrived! I ordered a piece of Makamong Burlwood (in the middle) and a piece of the very rare "white ebony" (the piece on the right side). The guys at
www.edelholzverkauf.de gave me a piece of nutwood (very nice grain) for free, because it has a few flaws.
All these pieces will be nice slingshot handles soon! I will have fun just thinking about what I will do with them.
Wow, that white ebony looks AMAZING! How well does it hold a shine once you've finished it and everything? It's going to make a beautiful handle, that's for sure...
ReplyDeleteOooo that white ebony is beastly. I'm excited to see it turned into a handle.
ReplyDeletei have some kind of wooden handle from a beer tap. would make a huge handle for a slingshot. very heavy too from the metal core used to screw into the beer tap, i presume..

ReplyDeleteIs the wood flimsy?
ReplyDeleteLooks good. The white ebony will make a very smooth handle. Maybe you can somehow combine the wood and ebony into one handle, like a spiral design or overlapping layers.
ReplyDeletehello,i would like to enter in the 51 sling shot give away.

Das weiße ebenholz hatte ich auch schon im kopf. Nu isses ja weg... doll^^ naja das bekomme ich schon noch. Viel spaß beim bearbeiten von dem holz und hoffentlich machste was richtig schönes aus dem schönen zeug.

ReplyDeleteYour Slingshots are awesome, looking forward to what you make with these.
ReplyDeleteYou are funny. i like your show
ReplyDeleteMaybe try making a deluxe or royale slingskot with oak wood and all that fancy stuff :P
ReplyDeleteAnd now I'm wondering if I ever saw a steampunk slingshot on your channel or on someone esle's channel....
Anyway, keep it up! I love it.
cant wait to see what you make
ReplyDeleteI can't help wonder, if the wood itself would be suited for a sling shot ?
ReplyDeleteThat white ebony looks beautiful!
ReplyDelete@Alkyrius: The boards are too thin for an entire slingshot, but in general, the wood is pretty hard. Anyway, I would always laminate several layers for safety.
ReplyDeleteIt would be really cool if you show how the wood work after one of your videos. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe white ebony is beautiful. Knowing your creativity, you will come up with something good to show everyone! Keep it up Jorg!
ReplyDeleteCooking up a new invention I see!
ReplyDeleteThat white ebony is absolutely gorgeous! I think it will make a beautiful handle. It would be interesting to see a handle, or maybe even a whole slingshot, made out of some purple heartwood, or some other rare exotic wood. They just give things that classier and more expensive feel and look.
ReplyDeleteI would love a slingshot sir!
ReplyDelete@Ser Barks: Check out this video:

for some slingshots made from noble wood. There is a purple heart one, too.
Oh, that white ebony has my heat just a'thumping! I would cut it into thin strips and laminate it with contrasting woods and then cut on a bias for a contrasting interesting look. Then send me the scraps! :) Man, that is great stuff! It would make for some very interesting inlays also.
ReplyDeletewow, look awesome, pretty expensive i guess ;)
ReplyDeleteSome very nice specimens. The Makamong Burlwood is an especially beautiful wood with great grain patterns. Thanks for sharing the pic.
ReplyDeleteman, that wood is really cool o.o how much did it cost?
ReplyDeleteit will be awesome to see these pieces of wood turn into slingshots
ReplyDeleteI would thoroughly enjoy one of your wonderful pieces of history in my hands. Hint: This weeks winner!
