The Slingshot Cannon Project - Wheels arrived

The last week of August will be dedicated to the making and shooting of the slingshot cannon.

The parts are starting to come in. Ammo is on its way, 18 Boule balls (1,6lb each), two each of 2kg (4,4 lb), 3 kg (6,6lb and 4kg (8,8 lb) shot put balls.

Bought the cannon wheels on ebay, from an old firefighter carriot (three ft. dia, iron ringed). 1 Euro for both! My wonderful wife drove 50 miles to fetch them (always good to have a pickup), but this will look gorgeous and saves a lot of time.

This project is so exciting... can't wait to shoot the shot put against the (clonker) car I bought just for the purpose.

    I love your projects, and it inspires me to get my cub scouts together to build a pumpkin trebuchet. Our local city is doing a contest this October for Halloween, and I think I will talk with the scouts at our meeting Tuesday about putting one together.

    Wow! I happened across some of your videos while reading some headlines on The Blaze website. It brought back memories of when I was growing on the high plains of West Texas and learned to use a slingshot to hunt small game like rabbits and pheasant. I found it to be a very effective weapon for hunting and not near as dangerous as a rifle or pistol - my parents would not allow me such devices until after my 18th birthday. But a slingshot was made to order for a kid growing up in a small farm community and loved to target shoot and hunt. Thanks for the videos and demonstrations of your outstanding fabrication skills.

    i made slingshots when i was a kid, i always knew it's fun, but making a cannon out of slingshot i thing you can supply Nations military weaponry

    Wow, oh Wow! This project is coming together and I'm excited to see the parts starting to mesh. Thank you for showing us the development and building of it. I think that's more than half the fun of it all. I think the whole world is waiting and holding it's breath-- well, maybe not the WHOLE world, but at least a bunch of people.... :) As a former hero of mine would say, "I love it when a plan comes together.'

    This thing is going to be awesome. The energy produced in shooting a 4kg ball will be huge! The problem is after this project you will want to top it which will be pretty tough.

    I am not wealthy, but I do have a good job and few other expenses (no kids). Ebay helps a lot, if you stay alert you can catch very good slingshot material for not a lot of money.

    I have used a wrist rocket slingshot to gig flounder in the flats here in South Carolina. I would love to try one of yours. The white ebony model is very impressive. What a wonderful piece of wood. Good Job

    I am hoping for about 50 m/s (= 164 fps = 180 km/h) with the shot put. This would mean the ball flies about 250 meters. 5,000 Joule = 3687 ft-lbs of energy if I can do that with the 4 kg shot put ball - "only" 800 Joule if the Boule ball will fly at 50 m/s.

    I love to watch your videos, i think the Slingshot is a very powerfull weapon, i don't have a slingshot myself, but i do have a few Slings here, the grandfather of the Slingshot :-)
    Ive been training the Sling for a long time and i have some skill, but i would like to try out the Slingshot to, i have never shot one before!
    And i recommed for you to try out the sling to, and be prepared, its not so easy.

    I picked up an old slingshot a couple months ago and was having fun shooting cans. Didn't realize the subculture attached to these things. I love it. Will have to try some of your designs and they are a helluva lot better then the surgical tubing I am using.

    The watermelon slingshot pouch was poorly designed, basket like pouches can twist and cause a backfire. Mine aren't poorly designed.

    Hey Jorg I am a huge fan of your work. I envy your hobby. I have always wanted to be an inventor/engineer. I always built things when i was younger (with Lego's and blocks).     That works, but the rolling nut lock mechanism has the advantage that it does not matter how fast you pull the trigger. The "laddle" trigger adds an upwards motion to the ball, the faster you push down the lever, the higher your hits.

    Had a hard time sleeping last night due to a new injury and woke up cranky and depressed. But reviewing your Plunger video trailer was just the ticket to lift my spirits and start me off again with a good hardy laugh. It hurt my ribs to laugh, but it was worth it. The image of you opening your overcoat exposing the many plungers cracked me up as it always does.
    Joerg, you provide good fun entertainment with your humor and your hobby. I would suggest to your many new subscribers that they view your past videos for more fun and chuckles.     Beautiful slingshots!
    My father and I would always make our own projectiles together (slingshots, catapults, potato canons, you name it). It always took hard work and a lot of time but in the end they turned out great! My father has been watching your videos and has shared them with me as to inspire ideas on possibly making a slingshot. I love the white ebony custom slingshot - very nice. I hope that in the future we can make a slingshot and share it with you.
