I had this piece of rare Maka Mong burlwood I ordered some time ago.
The back side was kind of incomplete, one side was much tapered. I figured that I could make another full "six circles" shooter from it, and got to work. The wood is very hard and has a very distinctive smell.
A multiplex core, for stability. Came out beautiful! The burl is incredible.
Another slingshot from you, another artwork :) BEAUTIFULL!!!!
ReplyDeletevery nice, love the shine
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. It looks like root wood as it is used in car interiors :) A slingshot like this would be nice as a gear knob!
ReplyDeleteprecious!!!As usual!!
ReplyDeleteThat's absolutely stunning
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Slingshots! You are truly a craftsman. Please include me for one of your Sunday slingshot drawings.
ReplyDeleteI just saw your most recent video that had this and the bow/crossbow in it. Always inventive as usual!

ReplyDeleteawesome design! really cool, really beatiful
ReplyDeleteHow do you come up with these designs? Great work!
ReplyDeleteYou have some serious wood working skills. I can fix cars, motorcycles and buses, but can't make anything out of wood. I'm kinda jealous!
ReplyDeleteLooks Great, That is a beautiful peace of wood
ReplyDeleteRemarkable
ReplyDeletethat's a really nice and rare wood, also i really like your new slingshot that you made.

ReplyDeleteHey This Looks Really Great With the Maka Mong
ReplyDeleteBurlwood Please Continue to Make More Videos :D
You make some of he most amazing looking slingshots.
ReplyDeleteThe grain of the wood really is amazing.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, the burl compliments the graceful curves of the sling-shot. I don't know that I would wear it in my back pocket as it might get scratched. I think it would have to be wrapped in velvet and only brought out on the rare special occasions such as when a fashionably well dressed zombie is just dying to suck your brains out. He should only be shot with such an elegant sling-shot out of respect for his tasteful style.
ReplyDeleteGreat Slingshot
ReplyDeleteman you make some really sweet stuff.
ReplyDeleteAnother masterpiece Joerg! your videos have inspired me to dust off my old Black widow & get busy.
ReplyDeletevery nice designs. always looking forward to seeing your next videos.

ReplyDeleteYour slingshots are quite magnificent. I've been really wanting to make one after I've been watching your videos, each of which I've watched 2 or 3 times. It's wonderfully motivating to see someone with such passion for their hobby.
ReplyDelete- James
Very nice, love the wood used
ReplyDeleteI love the grain on that wood. I've added it to my list of woods to try and make things from. You've actually been very useful in both showing me awesome slingshots and showing me neat woods. I'm glad I found your youtube channel :D
ReplyDeletelike what you are doing here keep up the good work
ReplyDeleteI would love a walking stick with a head like this Slingshot mounted on top.... I think it would be useful and eye catching!
ReplyDeleteGreat work as always!
You should make a video showing you making a slingshot to show the process :D
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Puerto Rico, THE ISLAND OF ENCHANTMENT. I have been a fan of yours for several months now, and am always anxious to watch your latest videos. I would be extremely happy, grateful and honored to receive one of your works. My email is: enerarevir1@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI agree with TQM, it would be very cool if you make a video showing how you make a slingshot(please).
ReplyDeleteLooks great, its awesome how it probably has a modern style to it but it looks like it can be a priceless antique!
ReplyDeleteI thought I was crazy when I started collecting knives. Now, you have me starting a collection of slingshots.....damn you. Your enthusiasm is addictive. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI love your Slingshot
ReplyDeleteLegit Craftsmanship right here.
ReplyDeleteI love this slingshot! It looks really comfortable to hold and its just simply a good design.
ReplyDelete@marc alva: I am a manager in consumer electronics, so slingshots are just a hobby for me. I have nice tools by now, but for my conventional frames, I mostly use hand tools (file, rasp, sandpaper). I enjoy working with wood.
ReplyDeletebeautiful workmanship as usual.
ReplyDeleteNice! I'm just getting into sling shots, but I do know a piece of art when I see one, beautiful. Please include me in your sunday drawing, I'd love to get my hands on one of yours!
ReplyDeleteUuuuu, shines!
ReplyDeletethat wood is shiny. how much was it?
ReplyDeletePaid 14,70 Euros for the board. Used it up completely for this slingshot.
ReplyDeletequite a good price for that wood
ReplyDeleteWould love to own one of these! :P Even if just as a mantle piece.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the cannon! It will be epic! :D
ReplyDeleteThe slingshot looks strangely hypnotising ...
ReplyDeleteReally nice shape and choice of wood. I think you are one of the best in making slingshots!
ReplyDeleteRock on.
Awesome texture on that wood
ReplyDeleteLove the grain on that wood, absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAmazing looks, love the elegant design and showroom polish-finish
ReplyDeleteThe wheels in your most recent video - I've been kind of looking forward to this cannon, but for some reason seeing the wheels brought home the amazing scale of the thing even more than the shot put ammo. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteWow. This is really a beautiful piece. What tools are you using to shape the wood? I did some simple carving back in the day by sanding down the wood ever so carefully.
ReplyDeleteI use a power jig saw, rasp, file and sandpaper. The final polishing is done best with a cotton rag and car chrome polish.
ReplyDeleteSo you go over it with fine sandpaper and then car chrome polish? Interesting method. I might try this with a guitar I want to build.
ReplyDeletei want to win
ReplyDeleteYes, 1000 or 1200 grid sandpaper, then car chrome polish. If you want to maximize the gloss, use a silver polishing rag (for jewelery) for finishing.
ReplyDeleteI don't always comment on sling shot forums but when I do... I have hopes of winning a sling shot

ReplyDeleteIs there no Poly coating on it? Why not?
ReplyDeleteI really like the look of this wood. Looks awesome!
Sometimes I like touching the wood, especially if it polishes so well. Polycoating means you touch plastic!
ReplyDeleteThis frame is oiled, though, so there is protection against the elements.
Beautiful piece, well done!
ReplyDeleteI really love the six circles shooters. Burl wood is amazingly good-looking. I'm going to have to keep my eye out for some of my own.
ReplyDeleteMan I love that design. The different design options are just amazing. Thanks for posting these Mr. Sprave!
ReplyDeletelove it and it looks amazing
ReplyDeleteNice job. Even nicer timber !
ReplyDeletebeautiful work fantastic!
ReplyDeleteYellow :)
ReplyDeleteJoerg, can I use your Six Circles project to make one for myself?
No commercial use of course, I just want to try it out.
I am thinking about making a steel/aluminum frame
witch holes for bolts as a attachment for different interchangeable scales.
Cheers
Rafal
you should make more tutorials i like them. keep it up! 8>0
ReplyDeleteHey joerg
ReplyDeleteYou should use this kind of wood called narra its solid hard plus it is termite resistant and rose-scented
And most important of all it is the national tree of my home country so it will be an honor for us that you are making a slingshot out of one of our countries national treasure
well now, that is a very sleek tool, your six circles design paired with exotic woods makes a very nice elegant minimalist end result
